A story in progress
The story of Dar Coco is still being uncovered. Believed to date from the late 18th or early 19th century, the riad was once part of a much larger palace complex and later belonged to the Ziat family, a British-Moroccan merchant family connected to the import and popularization of tea in Morocco. Today, this historic home begins a new chapter as a creative coliving space in the heart of Fez.
A Taste of History
Table of Gods Cookbook
At Dar Coco, history will not simply be preserved in carved plaster, painted wood and zellige—it will be something residents can taste. We have backed Table of Gods on Kickstarter, a cookbook that brings 4,000-year-old Mesopotamian recipes written on clay tablets into modern kitchens using natural ingredients. It will join our growing collection of historical cookbooks used for special dinner nights, connecting Morocco’s tradition of gathering around shared food with the stories and flavours of cultures across time.

Inspired by the grand riads of Fez, this space blends traditional Moroccan craftsmanship with everyday comfort. Hand-painted woodwork, carved plaster, zellige tile, and artisan-made furnishings tell the story of Morocco's rich architectural heritage, creating an atmosphere that is both beautiful and welcoming.
